As the director of the Music Tech Ensemble at Southwest High School during the early 1990s, I was immediately impressed with James Galvez when he enrolled in my class. His passion and love of music, as well as his natural talent was immediately apparent. But talent was only part of the equation for James—his accomplishments in music composition, production, and performance were also due to a very high level of dedication and perseverance, all fueled by an exceptionally strong work ethic. Over the few years that I had him as my student, he developed into a capable live performance musician. In addition, he wrote and produced several songs on a Music Tech CD that received favorable reviews. Over the years since graduating high school, I have periodically stayed in contact with James. I’ve also been kept aware of his ongoing professional music endeavors through other local professionals who have worked with him. From everything I’ve heard and observed, James has matured into a multi-faceted musical artist: composer, performer, and producer. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with James for some time at an event we both attended. As I listened to him speak, I could sense the fire in his soul for creating and making music. We started making music together at the age of... I want to say, I was about 15 or 16 years old. He was probably about 17, maybe 18. This is my command—be strong and courageous! I remember the first time I spoke with James on the phone; I was in my office at Sony/ATV in Santa Monica and from that moment, I knew that I was not dealing with the traditional producer/composer. James sounded like a simple type, very direct, and a very humble person, which is very uncommon in our beloved record business. We scheduled to have a meeting during that week and my doubts were cleared ... not only was James a rare exemplary of musician, producer, arranger, composer, but also a good person in the broadest sense of the word. Since that time (June 2004), began a friendship that still continues today. We have worked on a number of projects together thanks to his proven ability and musical talent: Tu Desayuno Alegre, Alegrias Compartidas, Venemovies, Bellas y Ambiciosas, Corazón Apasionado (along with our beloved recording artist Lucero) and many more that I am sure are still to come. I consider myself very privileged to count on a friendship between James and his family. It is a pity that there are no more music professionals with values that have always hoisted James.

James Galvez is AMAZING!!!! He is one of the most tenacious people I know and his talents are immense. After receiving a grant from the University of California to create online pre-calculus courses, I was struggling on how to create good sounding, good looking, state of the art, lecture videos. I had the mathematics down, but I was clueless on all the sound and creative issues involved in such a production....and then I met James. He has been a true blessing. Without him, any captivating qualities in the videos would be non-existent. He taught me so much and for that I will always be grateful. He is a true genius.
